Newport Brass Faucets Lavatory Valves
Most of our lavatory and kitchen faucets use the same hot and cold valves throughout all of our series, the exceptions are listed below with the series that they are used. All lavatory and kitchen faucets except for the pot filler are regulated to 2.2 gallons per minute (GPM). The valves along with their cartridges are listed as follows:
Hot = 1-600 Cartridge = 1-002 Cold = 1-601 Cartridge = 1-001 Wall Mounted Faucets = 1-532 & 1-532C Cold Cartridge = 1-510 Hot Cartridge = 1-511 o Torque-able Cartridges for wall mount levers (Sent with trim) These are cartridges that are much stiffer and will not allow the handles to fall on their own in the case of heavy lever handles. Cold torque-able cartridge = 1-543 Hot torque-able cartridge = 1-544 Hot Long Stem Valve (1040) = 1-610 o Hot Long Stem Valve (1680, 1690, 1700, 1720) = 1-529 Cartridge = 1-092 Cold Long Stem Valve (1040) = 1-611 o Cold Long Stem Valve (1680, 1690, 1700, 1720) = 1-528 Cartridge = 1-091 Extensions for Lavatory Valves
There are extensions for all of our lavatory valves. These are to be used when the customer has a thick deck where the normal stems are not long enough; these are parts that will need to be purchased from the dealer. Certain trim will need to be modified to fit these extension stems correctly. When searching for these stems in the catalog you will find them under the Tub/Shower section of the parts price list. Hot lavatory valve extension = 1-511 Cold lavatory valve extension = 1-510
Balanced Pressure Shower Valves
Pressure balance valves are single control valves that are also classified as anti-scald devices (one handle as opposed to two or three handles). They monitor the temperature of the hot and cold water at the inlet location. If the cold-water pressure decreases, the valve senses this and quickly reduces the hot water pressure. When the pressure changes on the hot or cold side, the valve instantly reacts to produce an even temperature. All balanced pressure valves have a maximum output of 5gpm.
Shower only balanced pressure valve = 1-504 Cartridge = 1-028
Tub/shower balanced pressure valve = 1-505 Cartridge = 1-028 Diverter Cartridge = 1-043 Stem Kit = 1-074 The stems need to be cut down to fit the trim correctly. There is no extension available if they rough in the valves too deep. However, if they cut the stem too short they can get a replacement stem and all thread to make the application work. This kit comes with the splined stem, all-thread, and locknut.
Filters = 1-068 (x 2) The filters were designed to catch debris from entering the valve, and they should be cleaned periodically. If the valve is leaking and the cartridge has been replaced, debris caught in the filters can result in reduced water pressure from either the hot or the cold water. A split o-ring or broken filter can also be another cause for the valve to leak. They may need to either replace or clean the filters. Two are required per valve.
Diverter Valves
Diverter valves divert water flow from one opening to another. There are two different diverter valves that divert between different functions.
4 – Port Diverter Valve = 1-608 Cartridge = 1-512 (stem and cartridge) or 1-072 (cartridge only) Stem only = 1-071
This is a diverter valve to be used with the balanced pressure or 2-handle shower sets; it is used to divert between a showerhead and a hand shower. This valve cannot be used to divert from an overhead shower.
5 – Port Diverter Valve = 1-605 Cartridge = 1-075 Stem only = 1-071
This is a diverter valve also to be used with the balanced pressure valve or 2-handle shower set to divert among 3 functions, (shower head, hand shower, and tub spout.) This valve cannot be used to divert from an overhead shower.
2-3 Handle Shower Valves
This valve consists of a hot, cold, and diverter (if three handle) valve connected together on an 8 inch yolk. It is still available today but it does not meet code requirements in most states where it has to be pressure balanced or anti-scald. Code does not currently apply to tub only applications. (10-12 GPM) 2-Handle = 1-500 Cold Cartridge= 1-510 Hot Cartridge = 1-511 3-Handle = 1-501 Cold Cartridge= 1-510 Hot Cartridge = 1-511 Diverter Cartridge = 1-512 Torque-able Cartridges for levers Cold torque-able cartridge = 1-543 Hot torque-able cartridge = 1-544
Remote Pressure balance Valve = 1-535
This is an in-wall valve used to make 2-3 handle valves pressure balanced to meet code requirements. This valve is not listed in the catalog. Cartridge = 1-059
Thermostatic Valve
The thermostatic valve is an anti-scald valve designed for high volume. It has a sensor that reacts instantly to changes in temperature caused by either pressure or inlet temperature changes. If the water pressuredrops or the hot water supply cools, the valve assures that the water temperature remains the same. This valve requires a separate Stop Valve/Volume Control for each function in the bathroom. The thermostatic valve is a mixing valve only, it cannot control on or off to any function. Thermostatic valves are not designed to ever be used with a diverter valve. (14-16 GPM @ 45psi)
New Style (after 9/02) = 1-540 Cartridge = 1-102 Old Style (before 9/02) Cartridge – 1-088 Extension = 2-260/(Finish) Using the extension will extend the valve cartridge out from the wall 1-3/8” if the thermostatic valve was roughed in too deep. Old Style Thermostatic Valve Extension = 2-260.NC/(Finish)
Stop Valve/Volume Control
These valves are to be used with the thermostatic valve only. One of these valves is needed for each separate function in the shower. Please note that you may put up to four body sprays on one ” stop valve. Since the thermostatic valve cannot turn the water on or off these valves serve only as an on and off valve and volume control.

Roman Tub Valves
The term “roman tub faucet” refers to a faucet mounted on the rim of a tub or the deck behind the tub. It is used to fill the tub with water. Another term synonymous with roman tub faucet is “deck mount” faucet. These faucets are capable of putting out 10-12gpm using ” valves.

Quick Connect = 1-016 This is used to connect the spout to the deck. It consists of two main parts, one is the nipple that is threaded into the bottom of the spout and the other half is installed through the deck. The nipple is secured with two o-rings to prevent leakage. Note that the nipple must have Teflon tape it before being threaded into the spout to also prevent leaking.
Spacer = 10382 This item is used for the roman tub spouts to allow for the decorative ring underneath them so the nipple will connect properly to the deck housing.
Roman Tub ExtensionsAll roman tub sets have extensions for the hot, cold, diverter, and spout. Each of these extensions will give them an extra 4” of stem that can be modified, the spout extension extends down underneath the deck.
